EALS sends letters to Reps in support of Ped/Bike State Laws
EALS sent letters of support to our reps (Garballey, Rogers, Donnelly) for a host of positive ped/bike laws currently on Beacon Hill:
Re: Please support H.D. 3991 and co-sponsor S.D. 723 and S. D. 731
Dear Representative:
The East Arlington Livable Streets (EALS) Coalition is a neighborhood advocacy group that promotes multi-modal transportation and a greener and safer community. Our supporters—225 on our e-mail list and 500 Facebook fans—have consistently advocated for a safer environment for pedestrians and bicyclists in our neighborhood.
We are writing to ask that you support and co-sponsor three important bills that are making their way through the Legislature. All relate to pedestrian and bicycle safety, an extremely important issue for your constituents throughout East Arlington. These bills include:
• Act Relative to Speed Limits, H.D. 3991 which will help to slow down traffic on side streets in Arlington which should be 25 mph maximum, not 30 mph per current state law
• Act to Protect Vulnerable Road Users, S.D 723, filed by Senator Brownsberger
• Act to Protect Bicyclists in Bicycle Lanes, S.D. 731, also filed by Senator Brownsberger
Thank you for your time,
